About SCI

SCI (the Steel Construction Institute) has been a trusted, independent source of information and engineering expertise globally for over 30 years, and remains the leading, independent provider of technical expertise and disseminator of best practice to the steel construction sector.

We support everyone involved in steel construction; from manufacturers, consulting and design engineers, architects, product managers, commercial directors right through to industry groups and peers.

Consulting and design engineers look to SCI for reliable and robust technical information and training on the effective use of steel in design, including the latest codes and building regulations. Our industry-defining Design Guides and Eurocode advice is renowned; in fact you'll find SCI behind the technical guidance texts of several of our construction peers. We regularly write design guides for respected companies and industry organisations including TATA steel and BCSA.

SCI Members rely on us to deliver numerous high quality benefits, the most valued of which is independent, technical advice available by phone or online – whatever the subject.

Clients value our specification services. SCI develops bespoke engineering software and design guides to support the commercial application of your product or service and connect with your target audience.

Above all, SCI works in partnership with clients, members and industry peers to help build businesses and provide competitive advantage through the commercial application of our knowledge. We are committed to offering and promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions.

SCI Product Certification

SCI Product Certification will provide assurance that your product meets all relevant and current requirements.

Certificates offer clear, unambiguous statements about compliance and are structured to follow the Basic Requirements for construction works as set out in the Construction Products Regulation.

This scheme is a separate entity to SCI and the SCI Assessment and SCI NHBC schemes.  It operates under its own rules of governance and has its own procedures, and training requirements. It is subject to ‘observation’ by the Impartiality Committee to ensure that SCI certification activities are undertaken in an impartial, independent and open manner.
